ADLESTROP, LOWER ODDINGTON, DAYLESFORD

Start time 10.00am

Led by John & Mary

This 5.5 mile walk initially leads west through Adlestrop village, passing the cricket field and the site of the famous station. We stroll through attractive Lower Oddington and head for the south side of Daylesford Village. Admiring the cars of the wealthy at Daylesford Farm Shop, we have a scenic walk, through parkland surrounding Daylesford House. Great views throughout and the total 430’ climb is almost unnoticed.

PLEASE NOTE: Before the walk John will say that there are two places for caution on the route. The first is as we walk on a verge alongside a road and over a bridge on the A436. Also, the car park at Daylesford Farm Shop and the entrance to the site are usually busy.

It’s a bit of a way to Adlestrop but it is still summer. Travel to Adlestrop and enjoy a 45 minute Cotswold journey. Head from Evesham to Stow on the Wold and then take the A436 to Chipping Norton. Immediately after crossing a railway bridge take the almost hidden left turn to Adlestrop and follow the route when it turns right at a T junction. Parking is at the Village Hall in Adlestrop, across the road from a bus shelter with the village nameplate, rescued from the former railway station. Voluntary contributions are requested for parking at the Village Hall.

If you are looking for lunch then Stow on the Wold is our nearest option. Parking is limited in Stow. However, there is a free car park adjacent to the car park for the Tesco store (post code GL54 1BX) and just a short walk back into Stow.

WINCHCOMBE, ST KENELM'S WELL

Start time 10.00am

Led by John & Mary

This is an attractive 5 mile walk with great views . After passing Sudeley Castle the route guides us to the historic St. Kenelm’s Well (with history option included.) Our 740’ ascent continues to Little Farmcote. There will be opportunities for conversations as we catch our breath. On the return leg there are panorama views of Toddington, Greet and Winchcombe as we descend Flukes Hill and skirt Stancombe Wood.

Leaving Evesham south along the A46, turn left signposted to Sedgeberrow and left again to Winchcombe. Once in Winchcombe, at the junction at the bottom of the hill, go straight over into Back Lane. The long stay car park is behind the library, postcode GL54 5PZ. Cost for parking is £1 for all day and toilets are available with a 20p piece.
