The past programme below shows the activities of the Architecture group in 2026. Members have taken it in turns either to guide us round a town or booked a professional tour guide. In winter we have stayed indoors and watched DVDs, or a member has presented an architectural topic. We may continue in this vein, or do something different. Ideas are welcome from members or from people who are interested in joining.
We are a small group and would like to grow. If you are interested in architecture, please get in touch.

| April 27th | Beckford Church | The Romans were in Beckford, followed by the Anglo-Saxons, then the Normans. The Domesday Book records 34 villagers, 17 smallholders, 16 slaves, 33 plough teams, a mill and a church. There has been a church in Beckford for 900 years, the current one dated circa 1130-35. There is strong Norman influence, and many mysterious carvings. | Free |
| May | No meeting | The first Monday of May is a bank holiday, so we do not meet on that day. The meeting on April 27th replaces that. | TBA |
| June 1st | Stanton | Stanton was an established settlement in the ninth century, and probably long before. It is now abundant with buildings of interest from mediaeval times onward. | Free |
| July 6th | Worcester | We will be focusing on the area around the Elgar statue, taking a circular route to look at the outside of several buildings, some of which have been saved from demolition by the local authority. Starting at the Guildhall Huntingdon Hall Nash House, New Street Greyfriars and other buildings in Friar Street The Commandery, Sidbury (2026 is the 375th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester) Back to the Elgar statue, and if there is time looking at the exterior of the cathedral. | Free |
| August 3rd | Droitwich Catholic Church | The outside of the Sacred Heart Church does not hint at the mosaic murals that fill the inside. created in 1930 and restored in 2025. The designer, Gerard Pippet found inspiration in Ravenna, which has a long history of magnificent mosaic art, starting with the Romans, then the Ostrogoths, and then the Byzantines. The Sacred Heart Church is known as England's Ravenna. | Free |
