German Conversation
We meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at Sophie's house. We now have 4 groups and 30 members. During the day, different groups based on ability meet:
- Beginners German
- 9:00am-11:00am
- Beginners German Lower intermediate
- 9:00am-11:00am
- German Conversation Higher Intermediates
- 11:00am-1:00pm
- Advanced German Conversation
- 2:00pm-4:00pm
Silver Anniversary Garden Party
Our traditional German Garden Party is on Thursday 9th July this year! Our members are busy preparing a special celebratory Silver Anniversary event. We are looking forward to a day full of fun, sunshine, German Specialities and in gratitude to all who were and still are members now. How would we ever have met if it had not been for the u3a? Long may it last!
Resources for German Learning
For the beginners, Sophie teaches grammar using an old book Heute Abend. The beginners read, write and talk. The intermediate and advanced group members are encouraged to write their own stories or talk about something of interest. I also prepare lots of interesting topics before the meetings. Again, we read, write and talk about it.
In all the groups, members bring their own items of interest for discussion, read them to the group or talk about something, which leads to a conversation. I also have German books which give us a wealth of interest.
