Evesham and District

This group centres around visits by coach to Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Our usual practice is to book Concerts at Symphony Hall at about bi-monthly intervals. We only include classical concerts, normally performed by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) but we try to include Concerts when other famous Orchestras are invited to Symphony Hall from time to time, (next season it will be Sir Simon Rattle's 'new' Orchestra - the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra) not to mention world class soloists. We have in the past attended performances given by Sheku Kanneh-Mason (Cello), Nicola Benedetti (Violin) Benjamin Grosvenor (Piano), Anna Lapwood (Organ), Jennifer Pike (Violin), Milos Karadaglic (Guitar) and Thomas Trotter (Organ).

Coach transport is arranged from Evesham, so bookings are made for a simple all-inclusive price. In view of the timings of the Concerts, - afternoon or evening - we always arrange for the coach to drop us off in Birmingham in time to get lunch or dinner before the concert start time, although of course Members may choose to bring their own refreshments. And of course travelling together by coach is a wonderfully hassle-free way to do it.

For members with mobility issues, we now offer a free wheelchair or walking frame loan service to help with moving from the coach drop-off point to the Concert Hall.

We have selected what we hope will be seen as an attractive programme of concerts for the coming 2025/2026 season and details (set out below) have also been circulated to everyone on our group mailing list who have priority for booking tickets. Unallocated tickets are then made available to other members of u3a.

New - Concert Reserve List

For almost every outing organised by the Concert Group, for which tickets are bought well in advance, Members may have to pull out at a late stage due to illness or other reasons. The last thing we want is for these folk to be out of pocket, so we would like to offer these redundant tickets via email just to those u3a members who may be interested in taking them, rather than to the whole membership – hence we have created a Concert Reserve List to make the process really simple.

Joining either the Mailing List or the Reserve List does not commit you to buying tickets. Transfer of redundant tickets would be on a first-come-first-served basis.
