We are a mixed ability group and have been learning together. We try to have fun with our learning and don't always follow the same course. Sometimes we listen to CD's, sometimes we read from the books and sometimes our members make up sentences and phrases to translate. This is proving to be a great way of learning.
We are using a number of resources, but mainly these:
- The book and CD course BBC Talk Greek, by Karen Rich
- The book Teach Yourself Modern Greek, by Aristarhos Matsukas, first published in 1997 in the UK by Hodder & Stoughton Ltd.
- The CD course Michel Thomas basic, which has 8 CD's.
- The book Build Your Greek Vocabulary, by Hara Garoufalia-Middle and Howard Middle.
- A Textbook of Modern Greek, by Dr. Kypros Tofallis.
Every year we try to go out for a meal to a Greek restaurant, which is a nice social occasion. The photo shows us all at Greek on the Docks in Gloucester in January 2023.
