Sunday 23rd August Bands in the Park

The Concert Band marked the Evesham and District u3a's special 25th Anniversary in style with a lively afternoon of music and celebration by performing the last of this years 'Bands in the Park' events.
The fine weather created the perfect setting for the occasion and the colourful u3a bunting fluttered gently in the breeze, adding a cheerful festive touch to the surroundings.
We played Happy Birthday to celebrate the u3a's 25th Anniversary and achievements, but also to recognise the many members, volunteers and supporters who have helped make it such an important part of the local community over the years.
The concert band played with great enthusiasm, with lively numbers and familiar melodies. The performance was warmly received by everyone attending and a fitting tribute to 25 years of friendship, community spirit and shared experiences. We look forward to many more years to come.
Sat 27th June Summer Concert:
Music lovers were treated to a wonderful afternoon of entertainment at a special joint concert featuring the Evesham Community Chamber Orchestra and the Evesham u3a Concert Band. The concert was held in the Evesham Baptist Church Community Centre in aid of The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust. The event brought together two very different, but equally enjoyable, styles of music.
The Orchestra opened the performance with a programme of classical music. The rich and varied sounds of strings, woodwind, and brass filled the venue, creating a wonderful atmosphere and demonstrating both the beauty and power of classical music, with performances that ranged from gentle and expressive passages to dramatic and stirring movements.
The second half featured the Evesham Concert Band performing a contrasting programme of popular favourites from stage and screen. The audience was taken on a musical journey through well-known films and theatrical productions, with memorable themes and lively arrangements. From dramatic soundtracks to familiar show tunes, the band’s performance was full of energy, colour and excitement.
Their combined efforts provided an enjoyable concert while also helping to raise £244.50 for a worthwhile local charity.

Saturday 6th June St Mary's Church, Childswickham

The Evesham u3a Concert Band was gathered to perform a special afternoon of music in support of St Mary's Church, Childswickham fundraising efforts.
The band presented a varied programme of music, including lively marches, beautiful melodies, and well-known favourites. The musicians played with great enthusiasm, creating a wonderful atmosphere inside the church aided by the building’s natural acoustics.
During the interval refreshments were provided and the opportunity for those attending to make contributions.
At the end of the performance, the band received enthusiastic applause from the audience. The church thanked the concert band, everyone who attended, those who helped organise the event, and all who generously donated. £345 cash raised on the day plus card payments.
The success of the concert demonstrated what can be achieved when music and community spirit come together for a worthwhile cause.
Wednesday 3rd June Picnic in the Park
The rain may have been falling, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of our u3a members as they gathered around the Abbey Park Bandstand for a special 'Picnic in the Park' to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Evesham and District u3a.
The celebrations were attended by the Deputy Mayor and several of the interest groups including Sea Shanties and Tai Chi demonstrated their skills and talents with brief performances. Others identified their groups by dressing in colourful outfits.

By the time the Concert band took to the bandstand in the second half the rain had given way to sunshine. We started the performance with a rendition of Happy Birthday for our u3a asking the audience to sing along.
We continued with a collection of some of our old favourites and show songs giving a lively performance for the crowds. The music created a festive atmosphere and provided the perfect accompaniment to an afternoon of picnicking and socialising.
The afternoon was a fitting celebration of 25 years of friendship, music and participation—and a reminder that nothing, not even the British weather, can stop a good celebration!
