25th Anniversary Short Story Competition

The word count is: 250

This competition is open to all Evesham u3a members. Even if you have not written a story since you left school, pick up your pen and have a go! There is no entry fee – and you may even win a prize or discover a new talent!

Judging

Sue Johnson, leader of our two Creative Writing Groups, will be judging the competition. She is looking forward to receiving the entries so please send your entry to her by Friday 18th September 2026.

Prizes

A small prize will be awarded to the three winning entries at the u3a Open Meeting on Wednesday 4th November and these will be published in the December Newsletter, which will be the Special Jubilee issue.

Submitting entries to the u3a’s 25th Anniversary Short Story Competition

  • The theme of the story is: Silver.
  • The word count is: 250.
  • Submit your story by email to Sue Johnson.
  • Write your name in the email subject and add 'Story Competition'.
  • By submitting a story to the competition, you are declaring that the story is your own work, and we have your permission to publish it.
  • You may submit more than one story.
  • Closing date for submissions is 6 pm Friday, 18 September 2026.
